Don’t fancy your career prospects in the UK? How about this for a job?
Tourism Queensland’s offering one lucky jobseeker the opportunity to, er, work on Hamilton Island in Australia’s Whitsunday Islands.
Duties include exploring the islands of the Great Barrier Reef to discover what the area has to offer, writing a weekly blog, keeping photos and videos updated to ensure visitors are drawn to the 900 islands in the world’s largest coral reef system.
The successful applicant will live (rent-free) in a villa on the island for six months, travelling to the other islands and they will “report on their adventures”. They must be willing to talk to the media on occasion, “love the sea, the sun, the outdoors” and “generally live the Queensland lifestyle”, according to acting premier Paul Lucas.
Salary: AusD150,000 (that’s £70,000 or £972 per hour pro rata).
Hours: Flexible, 12-hours per month.
The best job in the world? Undoubtedly. The worst job in the world? Filtering through the applications.
